I would say its important to get the rythm on this song right,
on the Em chord listen to the track and you’ll hear that
he is adding and removing his finger on the D string on the Em chord.
Sounds a bit like Travis-‘Side’ at this point.

Em
If you don’t mind,
Could we not fight?
I see you’re close woman,
In the night,
Am Asus2 Am
I’m sober,
D D# Em
Still alive,
Waste your days,
On your own,
Getting drunk,
getting stoned,
Am Asus2 Am
I’m sober,
D D# Em
Still alone,
Em1 B
Must I always take a back seat?
Am1 Em
Must I always be your clown?
Em1 B
Did you ever really love me?
Am1 Em
Were you always coming down?
See your face,
See your eyes,
Shouldn’t have left,
Shouldn’t have lied,
I’m sober,
Spirit’s died,
Must I always take a back seat?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
Em1 B
Must I always take a back seat?
Am1 Em
Must I always be your clown?
Em1 B
Did you ever really love me?
Am1 >>>>Into solo
Were you always coming down?
