Thin Line – INDIGO GIRLS, from 1200 Curfews
(written by Gerard McHugh)
This is my first attempt at transcribing a song so please forgive any
mistakes. It’s quite simple though so there shouldn’t be too many. For
G/B and G/A (these names are made up) you’ll probably just want to play
strings 4 and 5, as if you were playing a power chord.
Chords: G=320033; Dsus/F#=200233; C9=x32033; D=xx0232;
G/B=x20033; G/A=x00033
G Dsus/F# C9
[intro x2]
G Dsus/F# C9
I thought the time was passed when I could
G Dsus/F# C9
Find beauty in a verse
G Dsus/F# C9
I set the stage and the scenery
G Dsus/F# C9
Rehearsing every word, yeah
D D
But when I tried to make it more
C9 G
Well it was always less
D D
And it’s a thin line between pleasing yourself
C9 G/B G/A G
And pleasing somebody e- e- else
Dsus/F# C9
Oh yeah
G Dsus/F# C9
Oh yeah All right
G Dsus/F# C9
With my confidence on fire
G Dsus/F# C9
I set to fixin’ up my role
G Dsus/F# C9
My separation of desire
G Dsus/F# C9
Just left me deeper down in the hole, yeah
D D
When I tried to make it more
C9 G
Well it was always less
D D
And it’s a thin line between pleasing yourself
C9 G
And pleasing somebody else
D D
Yeah and when I tried to make it more
C9 G
Well it was always less
D D
It’s a thin line between pleasing yourself
C9 G/B [PLAY TAB] And pleasing somebody else
