Subject: CRD: Don’t You Need (Melissa Etheridge)
I posted this to a.g.t late last year, but it didn’t get archived at
nevada with the rest of the ME tabs I posted at that point. I hadn’t
saved the file, but luckily an (ahem) extremely organized friend (hi,
Chet!) *did* save it, and sent it to me.. so I’m reposting it now.
As with all my posts, it probably could be formatted better, etc, etc,
and, no, I give no real idea of timing. But I figure if you’re gonna
play this one, you’ve at least *heard* it once.. it’s not *that*
difficult.

Don’t You Need
Em7 C(9)
I had a dream late last night
Em7 C(9)
The water was running low
Em7
and my fields were on fire
C(9)
burning my sky.
Em7 C(9)
My body was moving slow
B7
and when I awoke I tasted the sweat
A7 Em7
of desire on my mouth. And I
C(9) Em7
realized my heart had abducted my mind
C(9)
and they were last seen headed south.
B7
Now I can’t sleep, I’m so wired,
A7
and I find myself screaming out
Baug Em7 D
Don’t you need? Don’t you want?
C(9)
Can’t you taste it when you’re alone?
Em7 D
Don’t you cry? Don’t you feel?
C(9)
Sometimes I wonder if you are real.
B7
Don’t you bleed? Don’t you need?
Em7
There’s no quenching of thirst
C(9) Em7 C(9)
there’s no relief for the hungry at heart
Em7 C(9)
And as far as you’re concerned I’m just a thief
Em7 C(9)
entertaining in the dark.
B7
But it’s you that holds the cards
A7
Now that the joker is wild.
Baug Em7 D
Don’t you need? Don’t you want
C(9)
Can’t you taste it when you’re alone?
Em7 D
Don’t you cry? Don’t you feel?
C(9)
Sometimes I wonder if you are real.
B7 A7 C(9)
Don’t you bleed? Don’t you need?
D
Don’t you want to lay it down
C(9)
and feel your skin against the ground?
D C(9)
Don’t you want to ride the storm
and then sleep inside the calm?
D
Don’t you want to get that high?
C/E D/F#
Don’t you wanna be satisfied?
Cmaj7
Well, if you don’t get that from me–
B7 Em7
Don’t you need?
Em7 C(9)
I had a dream late last night
Em7 C(9)
The water was running low
Em7
and my fields were on fire,
C(9) Em7 C(9)
burning my sky. How was I to know
B7
that I burn every night in my dreams
A7
and only morning can set me free….
