Off the Hook
This is a favorite of mine and I couldn’t find a tab of it anywhere,
so I figured it out. I made this tab from the Demo version of the
song. Listen to the song of the timing.
I recommend playing the C chord as a barre chord in A formation
everywhere aside from where it specifies open.
G Em Bm
All around the room your things are placed
G
And next to you he fills the space
Em Bm
And so it seems your saving grace is only saving face
G Em Bm
The pictures of the two of you on holiday, on honeymoon
G Em
You thought that he was wanting you,
Bm
But he was only wanting you to
A Bm C F
Let him off the hook
G Em Bm G Em Bm
G Em Bm
He was your imaginary friend,
Bm G
You were partners til the end
Em Bm
Then something bends, and then it breaks, your worst mistake
G Em Bm
Accepting enemies on bended knees; a litany of tragedies,
G Em Bm
You’re vexed, it seems you’re hexed and after sex he expects
A Bm C F
You’ll let him off the hook til
G Em D C (open)
Something that you heard while you were sleeping left you
G Em D C
Shaken while he stirred. When you awaken you will
G Em A Bm C F G Em Bm G Em Bm
Make him eat his words right off the hook
G Em Bm
The credit card receipts, the dirty sheets
G
The souvenirs of men who cheat
Em Bm
It all makes sense – with each offense
You wanted to believe him
G Em Bm
He could get away with murder one,
G
And you would clean the smoking gun
Em Bm
With every crime, you bought each line,
But not this time, you’ll make him
A Bm C F
Eat his words cause
G Em D C(open)
Something that you heard while you were sleeping left you
G Em D
Shaken while he stirred
C(open)
When you awaken you will
G Em A Bm C F
Make him eat his words right off the hook
G Em Bm G Em Bm
Every Time, Hook and line
G Em Bm G Em A Bm C F
Every time, Hook and line
G Em D C(open)
Something that you heard while you were sleeping left you
G Em D
Shaken while he stirred
C(open)
When you awaken you will
G Em A Bm C F
Make him eat his, make him eat his
G Em D
Words while he’s alone,
C(open)
Cause you won’t be around and
G Em A Bm C F G Em D C(open)
From now on the phone stays off the hook
G Em D C
Hook and line,
